Welcome
It's easy to be bitter. It's harder to be better.
Unspoken conversations
Unspoken conversations
I have been a professional artist since I was 15. My work spans Europe and North America.
My conversations can be of many interweaving media; acrylics, oils, resins, porcelain and alcohol inks. I work primarily on canvas, but feel free to express myself on surfaces I am compelled to.
When I started this piece I was looking for a place; a destination, somewhere I could travel to and somewhere I could arrive. Emotional geography is a strong theme in my work, because I paint instinctually from an emotional lens. When I was looking for perfection in the image, the more disheartened I became, but when I asked my ego to be quiet, the image spoke on its own.
This was the road to nowhere, but I knew exactly where I was going. I only wanted a suggestion, so that the audience had an opportunity to follow me in the trail. I wanted the images to be through a blurred lens so that we didn't get caught up in perfection. The suggestion was enough to give you a prompt of where I am feeling and where you may think I may be going.
Shiva is a self-portrait, rising up from the reeds that hold myself hostage. But only when I remember to raise my arms are they powerless.
Being haunted can be deemed as tragic. In the background, the trees and branches were traumatic, but in the foreground, the trees were unapologetic. They are so ugly they are beautiful in a way that we can all understand. Painting this was hypnotic because it was a portrait of truth and a fable of others I did not know.
